MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS


Blackthorn Golf Academy is proud to provide lessons and schooling with two highly trained and certified golf experts.

Mr. Randy Anderson has been teaching professionally in the area since 1995.

Mr. Matt Harrell has been teaching professionally since he graduated from Professional Golfers Career

College in Temecula, California, in 2001. An Indiana native, he recently returned home proud to have successfully turned his passion into his profession.

Randy Anderson — South Bend, IN — Blackthorn Golf Academy

Randy ANDERSON


Randy is a native of South Bend, Indiana and graduated from Lasalle High School in 1985 and then Indiana University – Bloomington in 1991.

He has been a Golf Teaching Professional in the area since 1993. He has held numerous positions in the golf industry, such as

Dick’s Sporting Goods, Head Professional at Elcona Country Club.

Randy has been in the customer service business for over 30 years, has given over 10,000 lessons and is proficient in all forms of club repair.

Also, Randy is a certified club fitter for every major golf manufacturer,

including being on staff with TaylorMade making us a

Certified TaylorMade Fitting Center. 

As well as Director of Instruction for Blackthorn OperatingGroup.

MATT HARRELL


Matt is an Indiana native, who worked at Blackthorn before

graduating from New Prairie High School in 1999.
He went on graduate from the Professional Golfers Career College in Southern California in 2001 and then to Valley College in Los Angeles.  After College, Matt lived in Los Angeles for the last 19 years.

While living in Los Angeles, Matt worked for a

series of high profile celebrity clients when he was not teaching golf. 

Now he returns home to Blackthorn, eager to share his

knowledge and experience with our local golf community.
From the mental aspects of the game, inspiration and motivation, to refining those critical techniques needed to master the short game, Matt has learned how to find what works for the individual, so students can discover how enjoyable it is to play well as they improve.
